Remember when I posted this look on my Instagram?
This may come as a shock to many but I do not shoot every week before my blog post. Mwaniki and I actually shoot many outfits on one day. Now from that, I have learnt a thing or two about preparing for a photo shoot.
I had so much fun shooting the last time…this outfit in particular but in real sense it isn’t always easy.
I can’t tell you the number of times I have got to the shoot location and I realize I forgot some of the most important items. I have forgotten combs, shoes, accessories… even a complete outfit. With such occurrences I have turned Mwaniki and Mia into stylists, hairdressers, pose creators, you name it!!
Here are a few tips to remember when preparing for a photo-shoot:
- Get Inspiration
Most times I have an idea in mind of what I want the posts to look like but I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest on poses and background set up ideas then I brainstorm with Mwaniki on what else we can do to stay original.
- Try entire outfit before the shoot
I mean try everything down to the earrings! This may sound like I am being too much but it really is necessary. In addition to that I organize them in the order I intend to wear them to save time because the sun isn’t always loyal. One minute it’s there, next thing its gone.
- Do makeup at home
I am very lucky to have my sister who does my make up before any major shoot. From experience, I do my make up at home now to avoid rushing before the shoot. Good light comes and goes just as fast and I try to be ready each time the sun is in our favor. I also give the make up some time to set. Do your make up at home and as early as possible but carry the whole bag for touch ups during the day.
- Relax and have fun
Judging from the photos I have shared in this post, having a good time is everything… look at how I started and how I ended. #chill #haveagoodtime.
